DIY Citrus Scented Candles in Orange Peels

These citrus-scented candles not only provide a cozy ambiance but also infuse your space with the invigorating fragrance of citrus fruits. They make charming decorations and are a great way to repurpose orange peels. Place them on your table, patio, or any space where you want to add a touch of natural warmth and fragrance

Materials:

  • Oranges (or other citrus fruits)
  • Candle wax flakes or old candles for melting
  • Wick with a metal base
  • Double boiler or a heat-resistant bowl
  • Essential oils (citrus scents like orange, lemon, or grapefruit)
  • Knife
  • Spoon

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Orange Shells:

    • Cut the oranges in half and carefully scoop out the fruit, leaving the peels intact. The halved orange peels will serve as natural candle holders.
  2. Prepare the Wick:

    • Cut the wick to the desired length, ensuring it's tall enough to reach the top of the orange peel. Attach the metal base of the wick to the bottom center of the peel using a small amount of melted wax to secure it.
  3. Melt the Wax:

    • In a double boiler or a heat-resistant bowl over a pot of simmering water, melt the candle wax flakes or old candles. Stir occasionally until fully melted.
  4. Add Essential Oils:

    • Once the wax is melted, add a few drops of your favorite citrus essential oil. Stir well to distribute the scent evenly.
  5. Pour Wax into Orange Peels:

    • Carefully pour the scented wax into the prepared orange halves, leaving a bit of space at the top. Ensure the wick stays centered.
  6. Let the Wax Solidify:

    • Allow the wax to cool and solidify. You can speed up the process by placing the orange candle holders in the refrigerator.
  7. Trim the Wick:

    • Trim the wick to the desired length, leaving about half an inch above the wax.
  8. Light and Enjoy:

    • Your DIY Citrus Scented Candles are ready! Light the wick and enjoy the warm glow and refreshing citrus aroma.
