Be Natural
Hey Friends!
Me like many of your have used commercial products at least once in your life time! I was an avid user of commercial body care products, such as body wash/soaps, lotions, deodorants, and many other products. Then I really started to take a look at the ingredients and although I am a chemist, it was either hard for me to pronounce some of the chemicals or I wasn't familiar with the chemical name and purpose of the ingredient. Thus I began a mission to educate myself, really do a deep dive into the names and purposes of the I was putting on my skin and my family's skin. This really made me realize I did not want my children to be subjected to products with ingredients that contained harmful chemicals.
I decided to do something about it. Well first I started to look for companies that were "natural. " Well before I go too deep let me define my definition of "natural." "Natural " an ingredient that comes from nature, rather than being man-made. Ok, now that is out of the way... I looked up companies and found a few that I thought was "naturalish," they used more natural ingredients than your most popular commercial brands and I used them for some time until I I couldn't do it anymore. These companies are decent, but they just weren't what I was looking for, their ingredients were lacking the complete natural ingredients I desired. So I decided it was time to go all in! I started making and using cold process soap. It was so refreshing to know that the products I was putting on my skin were not filled with unnecessary chemicals but with natural oils, butters, colorants, botanicals and essential oils. It was refreshing, rewarding... but after I used my soap , if I didn't apply coconut oil or shea butter to my skin I was still using lotions and scrubs that were filled with the same ingredients I did not want. So back to the drawing board.
This lead me to create a body cream. I opted not to created a whipped shea butter, because everyone was making one and I knew I could always make it and add it to the arsenal at any time. After the body cream came the scrub and now I have other products I am experimenting with. I say all this because natural has been something I truly valued and it is satisfying to know that some of the same ingredients that I put into my body I am putting on my body. Ingredients filled with moisture, calming properties, vitamins, minerals, etc.Â
